Choose the perfect shade. Finding the right shade is an essential step in mineral makeup. Since this makeup sits on the skin surface, the color will show. So, test the makeup on your jawline. If you want to cover more blemishes, choose a shade that is in between your natural skin color and the darkness of the spots you want to cover.

Prep properly. It is always best to start makeup with a fresh skin. Make sure you have cleansed and moisturized before applying makeup. Wait until the moisturizer has been fully absorbed by the skin before using mineral makeup. Those with oily skin are advised to use a foundation primer to prevent the makeup from slipping.

Tap and brush. Use mineral makeup sparingly. Dip the brush and tap off the excess before proceeding and just buildup the color accordingly. A kabuki brush is ideal for mineral makeup. Use circular motions in putting on mineral foundation. Start from the T-zone and work your way out. Buff the foundation until you obtain a smooth finish.

Finish off. If you need more coverage in other areas of your face, use a flat concealer brush and apply foundation on those areas. If you have oily skin, you may want to use a mineral finishing powder. Also use circular motions to obtain a matte finish.
